KAAAWA, Hawaii - It was a case of being in the right place at right time. Honolulu Police were conducting an operation for car break-ins in Ka'a'awa when they observed a male break in to a car. That male then got into another car and tried to flee the scene

Police say it happened near Crouching Lion off Kamehameha Highway.

"They were in the area conducting an operation because of a high rate of car break-ins in the area which is common we try to be proactive and address these problems so something like that isn’t out of the ordinary," said HPD officials.
Officers attempted to stop the car, but police cars were struck in the process. The car then tried to get away, fired a gun, and struck an officer who sustained minor injuries.

The passengers and the driver of the car were arrested without any problems after.
