Cadet World Bronze Medal Wrestler Tiare Ikei has been selected to represent Team USA at the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games.  This is the 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games and will be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina from Oct 6-18, 2018.  Wrestling will take place Oct 12-14 with Tiare’s 49kg division scheduled for Oct 13.

Ikei was the 2018 HHSAA 112# State Champion, who recently won the Bronze Medal in the 49kg United World Wrestling Cadet Women’s World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.  This has been a very exciting year for Ikei as she won Gold at both the U.S. Women’s National Championships in Irving, TX and Pan American Championships in Guatemala City, Guatemala back in May.  She also announced that she will moving to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs to train full time under the coaching of Women’s National Team Coach Terry Steiner and Assistant Coach Clarissa Chun, forgoing her senior year of high school in Hawaii and a chance to defend her state title. 
Ikei will be attending the US Women’s Cadet & Junior National Team Training Camp in Fresno, CA next week from Aug 9-15 at Fresno State University and make the final move to the Olympic Training Center immediately following the camp.  She will be transferring from Hawaii Technology Academy where she holds a 3.85 GPA to The Springs Studio, a blended learning charter school in which many of the Olympic Hopefuls at the OTC attend.
