42,000 meals to those in Puna since May, the Salvation Army continues to serve

HONOLULU (KITV) -

It's been over two months since Kilauea's initial eruption. Many people have helped out those in Lower Puna-including the Salvation Army.

Here are the latest stats since May 9th: 

  • Nearly 42,000 meals have been served to evacuees at emergency shelters in Puna
  • More than 1,400 cans of mosquito repellent have been handed out
  • More than 1,300 food boxes and 1,100 cases of water have been given to those in need
  • $13,000 in vouchers to be redeemed at their thrift stores have also been issued 

The Salvation Army, along with many other organizations continue to work to aid those affected by lava.
