Money matters: Groupon looking for buyer, Tesla helping Thai soccer team rescue

In the latest financial news a popular shopping site might be hitting a sale block, and Tesla helps out in the Thai soccer team rescue. 

  • Groupon is reportedly looking for a buyer. 
    • Company executives tell Recode-an online newspaper, they've reached out to several public companies the past month to gauge interest. 
    • Groupon which launched a decade ago is worth $2.4 billion, down from a high of $16 billion in 2011. 
  • British media reporting the most senior official in charge of negotiating Brexit has left his post. 
    • David Davis reportedly resigned Sunday after Prime Minister Theresa May said her government would keep ties with the EU once the U.K. leaves.
    • The move upset a number of lawmakers who claim it will limit Britain's ability to strike new trade deals.
  • KLM is halting flights to Tehran.
    • The dutch airline says its because of the negative outlook following the U.S. withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. 
    • KLM's last flight will leave Amsterdam September 22nd. 
  • Elon Musk is throwing his support behind the Thai soccer team rescue.
    • On Sunday he tweeted video of a mini-sub his team built that simulates maneuvering through a narrow passage similar to what the boys experienced. 
    • Musk says even if the device isn't used in this particular rescue it could be helpful in the future.
