Kapolei's Robert Grilho III just won the 2018 NSSA National Open Men’s Championship at Huntington Beach California and was awarded the prestigious Mayor’s Cup Trophy.
Robert is now the youngest surfer to ever win the NSSA National Open Men’s Championship at just 15 years and 3 months.
He also received the Andy Irons award that recognizes the Most Outstanding Performer of the event.
Last week he won the 2018 NSSA National Explorer Boy’s Championship and took 3rd in the Explorer Junior’s Final.
On the women’s side, fellow Hawaii wave-rider Gabriela Bryan earned the National Open Women's title over San Clemente’s Samantha Sibley.
