Take your basketball game to the next level with the Hawai‘i Development League (HD League). HD League is Hawai‘i’s premier summer league for active and aspiring basketball professionals. HD League is founded by ‘Iolani teammates and professional athletes, Derrick Low and Kyle Pape, who want to give back to Hawai‘i athletes and pass down the skills they have learned along the way. HD League will provide a highly competitive three-week league to develop serious players.

“Growing up in Hawai‘i, I found that one of the best ways to get better was to play against older, stronger and quicker competition,” said Derrick Low, HD League co-founder and director. “HD League will offer the best ‘pick-up’ games to challenge players and allow them to develop their games and skills.”

Priority will be given to current college and professional players, high school seniors who are going to play in college, and promising high school talents. Veteran players will also be sprinkled in to serve as mentors and bring quality experience to the team.

The summer league will feature six men's teams and four women's teams and is free to participate in, but space is limited. The league starts on June 26 after a kick-off party and draft on June 22.

To provide an all-around experience for players and spectators to enjoy, HD League will put together each team roster to ensure that all games are as competitive as possible. There will be six teams for men and four for women. Registration will close June 12. Cost is free to participate.

Games will be held at night from June 26 – July 16 at St. Francis, Manoa and Kilauea gyms. The championship game will be played on July 19 at Maryknoll. On June 22, a kick-off party will be held with a team draft. Using a lottery, the team sponsors can play the role as General Manger to choose from pre-selected rosters.
