PUNA, Hawaii - Some evacuees left their homes weeks ago - many never getting the chance to collect supplies or personal items. A group of Pahoa residents and their friends have been accepting and giving out donations to those in need.

Puuhonua o Puna started as base camp of sorts for people to regroup and get the newest information about the lava flow and their homes. A month later, it has grown into not just an information headquarters but a donation center as well.

Volunteer Hula Bartels says the number of people they help changes daily, just like their needs. Bartels says if you have a donation, you can either drive up and drop it off or donate money through First Hawaiian Bank.
