Lava nearing Halekamahina Loop less than a mile away from Highway 137
You can see the orange glow of the lava lighting up the night sky, this is coming from fissure 17 it erupted near Halekamahina Loop on Sunday, the County says it is now about a half mile away from highway 137.
It is moving about a hundred yards per hour.
The concern is if it will reach highway 137. Governor Ige and county officials are already preparing for that scenario and thinking of alternate routes just in case.
"We do know that its important to maintain transportation so that the residents would be able to go to work and take whatever actions they need to try to get back to some sort of sense of normalcy," Governor Ige said.
This is a fluid situation and could change at any moment.
