HONOLULU - A major endorsement for Democratic Governor David Ige's re-election campaign. Saturday, the Hawaii State Teachers Association, which represents about 13,700 public and charter school educators endorsed Ige.

Union leaders say Ige made a strong contract for teachers, cooled classrooms, and backs a new teaching paradigm that moves away from those standardized  "bubble" tests.

Others in the race for Governor are Democrats US Senator Colleen Hanabusa and State Senator Clayton Hee; and Republicans State House Rep. Andria Tupola and former state lawmaker John Carroll.
