Those with a green thumb and open arms might want to pencil this in their schedule.

The Manoa Branch of the nonprofit, The Outdoor Circle and Malama Manoa, is giving away 1000 trees to community members.

It's all meant to improve the air, increase shade, and make the island healthier.

Planting trees can reduce water bills and wasteful runoff, absorb unwanted sound, plus cool your home.

Variety is all part of the plan, with plumeria, papaya, kukui nut trees, plus lauae ferns, valentine vines, and more up for grabs!

Arborists will be on-site answering any planting questions you might have.

The event takes place Saturday, April 28th, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Manoa Marketplace.
