National School Walkout is scheduled for Wednesday, with national and local schools preparing demonstrations to change gun laws, and pay tribute to the 17 lives lost in the high school shooting in Parkland, FL.

Here are local schools' plans:

  • Mid-Pacific Institute: a student-led walkout, 17 students lying on the ground for 17 minutes, and three organizers to make speeches
  • St. Francis School: students to walk out of classes to the gym with Principle Sister Joan of Arc Souza, light 17 candles and recite the names of the victims lost in the Stoneman Douglas High School massacre
  • Damien Memorial School: students to walk out of classes with President Wes Reber Porter to the football field, hold hands and pray once there for 17 minutes
  • St. Andrew's Schools: students to walk out as bells in the Cathedral of St. Andrew ring 17 times. Bag pipes are scheduled to play while students hold candles and sing Amazing Grace and Lean On Me between the school and the cathedral.
