WAIANAE, Hawaii - Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center held a blessing ceremony and invited people to tour the new facilities. The $49 million project includes a new family medical building, adult medical and pharmacy building,  and emergency medical building.

"You live in an area where there's poor people, it doesn't mean you have to have poor facilities," said WCCHC Board Chair Tony Guerrero. 

With 65% of people in Waianae living below the poverty level, the community has faced a lot of challenges. Guerrero says their goal is to bring health and education to the under-served community. Not only does the health center offer schooling or various healthcare jobs, its also a huge economic driver in in Waianae, employing 650 people.
