The Hawaii Department of Health issued a brown water advisory for the northwestern shores of Maui
KAHULUI, Hawaii -
The Department of Health has issued a brown water advisory for waters off the Kahului and Waihee coasts on Maui. Heavy rain caused storm water runoff to enter coastal waters in the area.
The Department of Health is advising people to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer, utility holes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris. Not all coastal areas may be impacted by runoff, however, if the water is brown stay out.
