New mobile shower service to provide help for the homeless

Project Vision Hawaii announced the launch of Hiehie, a mobile unit that gives people experiencing homelessness a chance to receive a hot shower, hygiene supplies and other resources.

Wednesday, February 28th, 2018, it will roll out it's first of 6,000 mobile units, as part of their initiative to "deliver dignity and transform a person internally and externally, one shower at a time."

Hiehie contains three bathroom stalls with a toilet and shower; one including an ADA compliant diaper changing table.

The project was funded by the Zilber Family Foundation, Aloha United Way, Hawaii Cares, Navatek, Hawaii Women's Legal Foundation, Matson and other anonymous donors.

Details on the Hiehie blessing, ribbon cutting and launch are below:
