Two killed in Makaha hit and run
Police say the two men were working on a vehicle here along the shoulder of Farrington Highway in Makaha -- when another car hit them and drove off.
HONOLULU - Police say the two men were working on a vehicle here along the shoulder of Farrington Highway in Makaha -- when another car hit them and drove off. It happened around 7:40 last night about a mile away from Makua caves -- near Kea'au beach park. Police tell us the car involved in this hit and run is a Volkswagen Passat -- it was traveling in the eastbound lane of Farrington highway --- before hitting the two victims. Police have identified those victims as a 21-year-old man from Maile and a 23-year-old man from Nanakuli. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene. Another was taken to to the hospital in critical condition --- where he later died, according to police. The driver of that Volkswagen Passat involved in this hit and run fled the scene. However, police located the vehicle about 30 minutes later. However, police have not located the driver. It's unclear if the driver was speeding or driving under the influence. But you can see just how dark it is out here --- there are no street lights in this secluded area.
