St. Louis School is getting a new athletic complex
Thanks to its biggest donation ever.
HONOLULU - St. Louis School is getting started on a new athletic complex, thanks to its biggest donation ever.
The school held a groundbreaking ceremony Monday that included a traditional Hawaiian blessing.
The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation, which was formed by the late businessman and St. Louis Alumni, presented the school with a check for $7.5 million.
The new athletic center will have a full basketball court, several practice courts and a legacy room.
"I think it will have a great impact both on St. Louis School and Chaminade University. For many years, we've been sharing the same gym. So now we'll have basically have two, the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletic Center and the McKean Gym to utilize. I think both teams, hopefully, will get strong as far as volleyball and basketball so we can live up to what we're doing on the football field," Glenn Medeiros, president of St. Louis School said.
Construction is expected to wrap up in April or May next year.
