Aloha Harvest collecting canned goods for 6th annual Fill the Truck Food Drive

Aloha Harvest is collecting canned and dry goods for its 6th annual Fill the Truck Food Drive at the Safeway Kapahulu location, from 8 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday.

People are encouraged to bring non-expired boxed and canned food items from home or to purchase extra while shopping at Safeway Grocery Store.

All food collected will be distributed to social service agencies that serve needy families and individuals.

    More than 150 volunteers on Saturday joined The Trust for Public Land at Ka‘ala Farm in Waianae on Oahu’s Leeward Shore to take part in a communal land restoration effort. The participants— including conservation donors and volunteers from 13 local companies — helped steward Kaala Farm by opening loi and planting kalo, while keiki enjoyed cultural activities such as pounding poi and making healthy ulu pancakes.

    The Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation (HGLCF) ended its 29th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (HRFF29) with its signature Red Carpet Event on August 18. The HRFF is one of the longest-running LGBT film festivals in the country. This year, the Festival showcased 15 films as well as special events and exclusive appearances over the span of two consecutive weekends.

    The Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation (HGLCF) ended its 29th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (HRFF29) with its signature Red Carpet Event on August 18. The HRFF is one of the longest-running LGBT film festivals in the country. This year, the Festival showcased 15 films as well as special events and exclusive appearances over the span of two consecutive weekends.
