Rescue crews are searching for a a woman swept away by an extreme flash flood on the Big Island.  The Fire Department says a man was hiking above a waterfall on the Wailuku River when they were both swept downstream by quickly rising waters.
The man was able to make it to the riverbank but lost his companion.
Rescue crews decided it was impossible to search the floodwaters, instead looking along the riverbank from atop Pi'ihonua Bridge.
They had to stop the search Friday night around 7:30.
