Rep. Gene Ward urges Gov. Ige to release HI-EMA security tapes from the morning of false missile alert
Hawaii State representative Gene Ward wrote a letter to Governor David Ige, urging him to release the security tapes of Hawaii's Emergency Management Agency from the morning of January 13.
In the letter, Ward wrote "The people of Hawaii deserve to see the events that led to those frightful thirty-eight minutes. For security reasons, faces can easily be blurred...How, after learning two minutes after that the alert was false, forgetting one's Twitter password makes for a legitimate excuse for not alerting the people you serve is beyond me."
In response, a Department of Defense spokesperson says "no such security footage exists."
