HONOLULU - The Honolulu City Council is one step closer to putting a stop to Oahu's monster house construction boom.

Committee members advanced an ordinance on Tuesday that would put a hold on building single-family homes 3,500 square feet and larger.

The temporary moratorium measure would also limit the number of wet bars and laundry rooms, as well as require a certain number of parking spots for homes, whether they are new ones being built or current ones being remodeled.
