One person is displaced after a fire on Kapiolani Boulevard Monday evening.

42-firefighters were called to a two-story apartment building near Date Street around 6:30 p.m.

According to the Honolulu Fire Department, it appears the fire started in the living room of a second story unit.

The resident was not home at the time but firefighters rescued two cats.

Damage is estimated at $100,000.

"We did sustain some heavy damage to the apartment so I have a fire investigator coming out to ascertain what the probable cause was of this fire," John Bowers, battalion chief, Honolulu Fire Department said.

No other units suffered any damage.
