On Saturday night, the 2nd annual Polynesian Bowl saw Team Makai defeat Team Mauka 31-14 on a rainy night at Aloha Stadium.

Team Makai jumped out to a 17-0 advantage before the half with the help of Tanner McKee, who found L'Christian Smith for a 19-yard touchdown, and defensive back Kyler Gordon, who tallied a 49-yard interception return for another score. Gordon, a four-star cornerback, took home the Player of the Game award.

Team Mauka got its first score out of Paul Moala on special teams. Moala took an underkicked punt to take it 57 yards for a touchdown. 17-7.

Makai got back on the board with a short run from Toa Tua, extending their lead to 24-7.

Mauka answered with a one-yard scamper out of Brian Sneed, 24-14. But another efficient Makai drive would seal the game. Devin Leary sent out a 22-yard pass to Jeremy Ruckert, then a short touchdown run for Taua.

31-14, final score.

NFL star and Tennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota was in attendance, as well as Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Juju Smith-Schuster. Mililani alum McKenzie Milton, UCF quarterback, was also in attendance.
