Kahuku's Dan Ige made his octagon debut at UFC 220 Prelims at TD Garden in Boston on Saturday night.
In Dana White’s Contender Series, Julio Arce took advantage of Ige from the opening bell, landing a flurry of jabs and swipes early on.
Round two wasn't much better for Ige. An uppercut landed by Arce wobbled the local boy even more.
Ige would get his opponent down on the canvas, but was unable to make enough moves to slow him down. There was too much in the tank for the New York-resident, who looked dominant throughout.
Ige's face showed the damage of Arce's slugs.
Arce wins in unanimous decision with a pair of 30-27 scores and a 29-28.
The loss snapped the Hawaii slugger's six-fight win streak -- dropping his MMA record to 8-2 -- and starting off 0--1 in UFC. Arce improves to 14-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC.
