Police, SWAT at barricade situation in Hau'ula
Social media reports say there is increased police activity in Hau'ula on Friday.
HONOLULU - There is increased police activity involving SWAT in Hau'ula on Friday.
Police say at around 10:30 a.m., officers attempted to serve a warrant to a 29-year-old man for felony theft and criminal property damage. The man refused to cooperate and started yelling and swearing at the officers. The man locked himself inside his house.
Officers set up a perimeter and SWAT was called in to assist. Next door neighbors evacuated their homes and other neighbors have been alerted.
The Hawaii Department of Education say it is about a half mile away from Hau'ula Elementary School. The school is not on lockdown. The DOE is in contact with police.
The scene is near Kukuna Road in Hau'ula.
