HONOLULU -
Honolulu police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run that happened late Wednesday on North Nimitz Highway.
At around 10:30 p.m., police say a 35-year-old Wahiawa man was driving eastbound on the H-1 Freeway Airport Viaduct when he crashed into a concrete barrier.
Investigators say the man got out of his vehicle, walked to the shoulder of the freeway and somehow fell 40-feet onto North Nimitz Highway. The man was in the middle of Nimitz Highway when a vehicle hit the man and never stopped. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Police have not released a description of the vehicle. It's unclear if speed or alcohol played a role. This is the second traffic fatality of 2018 on Oahu.
