SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - Units at Schofield Barracks are scheduled for training on the following dates in January.  The noise could affect nearby communities.

  • Jan. 6-8: Army artillery training
  • Jan. 8-26: Army Lightning Academy training with blank ammunition and explosive simulators, East Range. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.
  •  Jan. 10: Army Lightning Academy helicopter operations, East Range. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.
  • Jan. 10-12: Army mortar training
  • Jan. 14-21: Army helicopter aerial gunnery. Training will occur during nighttime hours.
  • Jan. 15: Army Lightning Academy helicopter operations, East Range. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.
  • Jan. 21: Army Lightning Academy helicopter operations, East Range. Training will occur during daytime and nighttime hours.
  • Jan. 29-31: Army mortar training, Schofield Barracks

Training dates are subject to change based on environmental and other factors. Weather, such as overcast conditions, can increase noise and vibrations. Should individuals hear noise, there is no immediate danger.

The military says it appreciates the understanding and continued support of the local community. While sometimes loud, this training is critical to ensure
military units and service members are ready to accomplish their mission and return home safely.
