The DoubleTree by Hilton team is welcoming back 12 Days of Cookies. From December 13 through December 24, both guests and non-guests are encouraged to stop into any DoubleTree by Hilton in the U.S. to enjoy a complimentary warm DoubleTree Cookie.
In addition to handing out warm chocolate chip cookies, DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki Beach is happy to announce the completion of its Trees Restaurant & Bar makeover. The all-new look is modern and bright with updated designs, colors and furnishings.
Sara Jehn, AIA (Assc) with Agor Jehn Architects oversaw the project, which incorporated classic materials throughout the redesigned space. Natural woods, engineered stone, solid surfaces were the pallets for the new color scheme of warm greys, blues and white tones.
“Our goal was for Trees to have a timeless base design with trendy layers, like furnishings and colors,” said Jehn. “We went from dark-toned shades that made the restaurant feel small, to bright, light colors that are enhanced by the natural lighting that pours into the restaurant.”
With sustainability being a top priority for companies today, Jehn stated that 90 percent of the restaurant project was specified with sustainable practices and materials. For instance, the paint line Natura by Benjamin Moore is zero VOC, zero emissions, asthma and allergy friendly.
The Trees project was the first time Natura was used in a commercial setting. “We are so pleased and excited to reopen Trees after this magnificent transformation,” said Michael Wilding, general manager, DoubleTree by Hilton Alana Waikiki Beach. “The new look is very welcoming and complements the rest of the hotel design.”
In addition to the bold new look, Trees has undergone a menu reengineering as well. The restaurant is open for breakfast, happy hour and dinner. The breakfast buffet provides an ample selection for either continental or full breakfast with made-to-order omelets. The large variety of Island favorites each evening includes kalua pig nachos, poke, grilled kalbi, North Shore-style garlic shrimp, Hawaiian baby back ribs and huli huli chicken. Burgers, pizzas, pizzas, salads, fish and chips and seared ahi tuna round out dinner selections.
Trees Restaurant & Bar is open daily from 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. for breakfast and 5 to 10 p.m. for dinner. Happy Hour drink and appetizer prices are available all evening. Validated valet parking is available in the hotel’s garage.
In addition to Trees, the Hiking Hawaii Café opened this year at the entrance to the hotel, offering both healthy cuisine and outdoor hiking adventures. A range of menu items in the cafe features local and organic products, with most made from scratch. Breakfast offerings include breakfast burritos, avocado toast, three-egg scramble, paninis and breakfast bagels. Lunch includes panini and bagel sandwiches, artisan pizzas, wraps and salads. An extensive menu of beverages include coffees, lattes, espressos, cappuccinos, fresh fruit smoothies, freshly-squeezed juices, coolers and specialty teas. The Hiking Hawaii Café is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
