Adopt a Family: Roxanne and her three children: Kimani, Kiani and Kiana

Posted: Updated:

A mother is looking for a little peace and goodwill this holiday season.

She asked not to be identified on camera. Her peace and goodwill, is the number one wish for Thursday’s Adopt a Family.

Kimani, Kiani and Kiana are looking forward to a Merry Christmas.

Their mom, Roxanne, is looking forward to a holiday season filled with peace.

After 27 years, Roxanne broke away from an abusive relationship.

Now the single mother of five, which includes a nephew, struggles to raise and heal her family.

The two youngest are energetic and full of smiles.

11 year old Kiana is quiet and thoughtful.

"Kiana is more reserved. This one is kind of closed up, hard to get stuff out of her because she deals with a lot because she just got her diagnosis about a year ago... With her diabetes, I have her in counseling," Roxanne said.

She said she never thought the domestic violence she faced affected her kids until now.

“It’s hard, seeing what my children went through and what they have to deal with now is a real eye opener for me. Cuz I thought I was doing the right thing by trying to keep our family together. All n all, I think they’re happier like this,” Roxanne said.

She is studying to be a certified nurse’s aid and is focusing on her kids.

“I just try to take care of my kids and get back on my feet,” Roxanne said.

But she says it is tough, especially during the holidays.

“Not being able to give them what I used to because we never had a struggle like this,” Roxanne said.

She's hoping for some kokua to keep them upbeat and smiling this holiday season.

Their Christmas wishes are simple.

They all need clothing: perhaps a gift card to pick something out?

For Kimani: farm animals, books and a fishing pole.

Kiani loves barbies, baby dolls and shopkins.

Kiana would like xbox games and a jacket.

Their teenage sister likes makeup and cousin Roy needs a jacket.

Mom would love a holiday meal and movie tickets so the whole family could go together.
