Makiki residents celebrate a 'Mele Kalikimaka'
And everyone got a free goodie bag with items donated by the community.
The Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation held its 15th annual Makiki Mele Kalikimaka holiday celebration Saturday.
There was plenty of fun for the keiki, including games, and arts and crafts. And everyone got a free goodie bag with items donated by the community.
"For a lot of people, especially in the area, times are tough for them," said Cass Kasporovitch, Makiki Complex supervisor, "so free events, you can't go wrong with that.
"It's kind of big," she said, "not just Parks and Recreation, but it's a community effort. Lots of businesses in the area, churches, all kinds of groups that come in and help us out with these kinds of events."
And Jolly Ol' Saint Nick made an appearance, with most of the keiki enjoying sitting on his knee.
