The 4th annual ESPN 1420 Jersey Fun Run & Ohana Fest is set for Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Aloha Stadium.
Former University of Hawaii and NFL wide receiver Greg Salas will serve as the official ambassador for the event, which includes a 3K fun run/walk, contests, prize giveaways, entertainment, local vendors and celebrity autograph signings.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Salvation Army Hawaii, a nonprofit organization that serves the poor, destitute and hungry.
The 3K fun run/walk takes sports fans of all ages in and around Aloha Stadium. Participants are encouraged to wear their favorite team jerseys or colors as they traverse parts of the stadium that are usually accessible only to players, coaches and stadium personnel. The runners/walkers also get to run across the football field and see themselves on the stadium’s JumboTron. The course includes several activity stations featuring sports such as football, basketball, baseball, soccer and more.
“The 2018 Jersey Fun Run promises to be our biggest and best edition yet,” said Matt Apana, Station Manager of Blow Up LLC, which owns and operates Honolulu radio stations ESPN 1420 and NBC Sports Radio on AM 1500. “In just four short years, the Jersey Fun Run has become a favorite event in our community, offering fun for the entire family as well as raising money for important charities. In 2018, in addition to the 3K fun run/walk, we are adding a free Ohana Fest that will include activities, entertainment, giveaways, celebrity appearances and more.”
The 2018 event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The fun run will start at 9:30 a.m.
Interested participants may register for the Jersey Fun Run at Active.com. An early-bird rate of $15/individual – fifty percent off the regular registration fee – is being offered until Dec. 31st. The Ohana Fest is free and open to the public.
