Small crowds gathered in anticipation in Kaimana Beach on Saturday, hoping that the Pacific Paradise would finally be removed from the reef, but were told it's not going to happen.

Salvage crews worked through the night to prepare it for towing, but the process of adding foam to the vessel to make it float took longer than anticipated.

Waikiki resident Laura Farris said she was disappointed it didn't happen but will try again.

"I'll come back again tomorrow," Farris said. And if it finally gets towed? "I'll do a celebratory swim," she added.

Crews will try again during Sunday's high tides. If all goes according to plan the boat will be towed to an offshore location where it will be sunk 1800 feet below, where the fuel and other pollutants will remain contained on the vessel.
