HONOLULU - Hundreds of kupuna received  a special Thanksgiving delivery.

Island News followed Lanakila Meals on Wheels Thursday morning spreading holiday joy.  Traditional meals with all the fixings were delivered to more than 800 disabled and low-income seniors on Oahu.

"Again, it takes volunteers everyday coming in to make sure that our kupuna have something to eat and that they are cared for, " said Meals on Wheels director Lori Lau.  "It's really about the relationship that's important.  That they know that somebody is coming, that there'll be somebody there.  The magic of Thanksgiving is that we take the six days of delivery and we compress them down into one day and that's why we need all these special volunteers to come in and help us."

In addition to the senior meals, a hundred complete turkey dinners were picked up and delivered.  And with Christmas right around the corner, there's always a need for volunteers and donations.  Click here for more information on volunteering.
