LAHAINA, Hawaii - The Chaminade men's basketball team scored an upset against the Pac-12's California 96-72 in the seventh-place game at the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center on Wednesday.

This is only the eighth overall win for the Silverswords, which is a Division II team, in this tournament held on Maui.

Forward Justice Sueing led Golden Bear scorers with 23.  Silversword guard Dantley Walker led Chaminade, also with 23 points.

Chaminade had a field goal percentage of 55.6% and a 3-point percentage of 56%.  The Maui host also made 60% of its free throws.

Back in 1982, Chaminade scored an even larger upset against then-No. 1 Virginia, led by Ralph Sampson.  The final score in that game was 77-72 and is still considered one of the greatest upsets of all-time in college basketball. Chaminade was an NAIA school at the time.
