Gov. David Ige announced Tuesday that a clean-up of a massive homeless encampment under the Airport Viaduct on Nimitz Highway is complete.
Multiple state agencies pitched in and disposed of more than 4 million pounds of debris and 110 gallons of hazardous waste.
Fencing has been set up around the area that stretches from the Moanalua Bridge to the Airport Viaduct off-ramp.
The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation will eventually move equipment to the area and set up surveillance cameras and motion sensors. In the meantime, security is monitoring the site from 6 p.m to 6 a.m.
