KALIHI, Hawaii - An early Thanksgiving at Kalihi Union Church Friday.

Kupuna from across the island enjoyed song and dance, did some art and played bingo.

Organizers say it's a way to get Hawaii's Kupuna out of the house and active and allows them to feel included, especially during the holiday season.

"It's so wonderful because there are so many seniors that are lonely during this time and the holidays. So it's so wonderful that we can come out here and join each other from various meals on wheels places like Nanakuli and Wahiawa," Nalei Pietz, a Kupuna said

Also at the event, Caldwell Banker Pacific Properties presented a check for $5,000 to Lanakila Meals on Wheels.

The funds will go towards programs that serve over 2,000 Kupuna Oahu.
