Hawai’i Pacific Health, Zippy’s Restaurants, and Spike and Serve are proud to host the 5th annual Hawaii Prep Championships of Beach Volleyball.  In 2013, Hawaii hosted the ?rst edition of this event, making history as the ?rst State to offer a High School Championships of Beach Volleyball in the USA.  This legacy continues Beach Volleyball’s unique tie to the State of Hawaii, where “Dad” Center and Duke Kahanamoku introduced the sport to the world over 100 years ago.  In a unique and new format, the UH Beach Volleyball team takes the sand as they cap off a great Fall training period with this intersquad event featuring 9 teams.

Play will begin at 8 am and conclude at 6 pm on Saturday November 18 at Queen’s Beach in Waikiki with the UH Beach Volleyball team from 12 PM to 4 PM.  On Sunday November 19, the live televised Spectrum OC16 Championship matches begin at 2 pm beginning with the Girl’s doubles, then the UH challenge at 3 pm. followed by the Boy’s doubles at 4 pm.

“Zippy’s Restaurants is a proud supporter of the Hawaii Prep Championships which touches so many members of the Hawaii community in a positive way.  The invention of beach volleyball, 100 years ago, by Hawaii sporting icons George “Dad” Center and Duke Kahanamoku gives this event an authenticity and legacy that is truly special.” Jeanine Mamiya Kalahiki, marketing director Zippy’s Restaurants.

“Spectrum has been a key partner since the beginning of the Hawaii Prep Championships because we believe in helping our youth achieve their dreams.  Beach volleyball is now a full ?edged NCAA sport with increasing opportunities.  We are excited to provide a telecast that has served as a launching pad for many of our competitors.” Dave Vinton, Director OC16 Sports.

“We are excited to expand our event this year as we bring in the UH Beach volleyball team for a special inter-squad scrimmage.  Its exciting to have collegiate players who got their starts in our HPC event now playing alongside our High School athletes!” Kevin Wong, Spike and Serve director, Olympian, OC16 and NBC Olympic Broadcaster.

We are very thankful to our partners who allow us to serve Hawai’i’s youth.  Thanks to Hawai’i Paci?c Health, Zippy’s Restaurants, Spectrum OC16, the Aloha Region of USA Volleyball, Enterprise Rent-a-Car, Honolulu Ford, Meadow Gold, and Taco Bell/Pizza Hut of Hawaii.
