KITV Island News, the ABC affiliate in Honolulu, is looking for an organized, aggressive, and skilled Assignment Manager.


The Assignment Manager oversees daily news coverage and plays a key role in advance planning and logistics. Island News places a huge emphasis on enterprise reporting that’s of local importance. The Assignment Manager needs to help cultivate this environment and teach young reporters how to generate solid contacts and sources. The ideal candidate will have exceptional management; organization and communication skills that will help maintain and inspire a rewarding working environment. The Assignment Manager is the prime point of contact with police, courts, network affiliates, and neighbor island stringers.


The successful candidate must have newsroom experience, strong writing skills, an ear for scanner traffic and the know-how and ability to break crews as news happens. Internet/Social media producing experience is required as well as excellent communication and time management skills.


Minimum 4-year college degree preferred.


Five years in a newsroom, preferably on the assignment desk.
