HONOLULU -

The man accused trying to drown his girlfriend and her dog in Kailua pleaded not guilty in court Thursday.

Harry Martin Lewis faces charges attempted murder, animal cruelty and second degree terroristic threatening.

He's out on $250,000 bail. His attorney tried to get it reduced.

"I feel its sort of retaliatory, again a quarter million is an extremely high bail to start with. On just the two counts. Now, if they added a felony count or a series of felony counts, I could see a possible increase to a million dollars but all they added was a misdemeanor count and bail for a misdemeanor count as you know is only $2,000," Myles Breiner, attorney said.

The judge denied that request, The trial is set for December 4.
