Big Island swimmers get ready for Richardson Roughwater Swim

The Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation holds the 30th Annual Richardson Roughwater Swim on Sunday, July 30th, with the race beginning at 8:00 am. Registration forms will be accepted until 7:30 am on race day. 

You may register online at https://flpregister.com or pick up a registration form at the Recreation Division office, 799 Pi‘ilani Street in Hilo and all County pools.

    Thirteen local companies give back at Ka`ala Farm

    More than 150 volunteers on Saturday joined The Trust for Public Land at Ka‘ala Farm in Waianae on Oahu’s Leeward Shore to take part in a communal land restoration effort. The participants— including conservation donors and volunteers from 13 local companies — helped steward Kaala Farm by opening loi and planting kalo, while keiki enjoyed cultural activities such as pounding poi and making healthy ulu pancakes.

    The Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation (HGLCF) ended its 29th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (HRFF29) with its signature Red Carpet Event on August 18. The HRFF is one of the longest-running LGBT film festivals in the country. This year, the Festival showcased 15 films as well as special events and exclusive appearances over the span of two consecutive weekends.

    The Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation (HGLCF) ended its 29th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (HRFF29) with its signature Red Carpet Event on August 18. The HRFF is one of the longest-running LGBT film festivals in the country. This year, the Festival showcased 15 films as well as special events and exclusive appearances over the span of two consecutive weekends.
