HONOLULU - Hawaiian Airlines flight HA47 from Oakland to Honolulu was diverted to Kahului on Monday due to an odor of smoke in the cabin, according to the airline.

The captain decided to land in Kahului due to an abundance of caution, according to Hawaiian Airlines.  The jet landed in Kahului at 11:29 a.m.  The passengers are booked on the next available flight to Honolulu.

Hawaiian Airlines say there were 241 passengers and 10 crew members on the plane.
