A Maui jury found Steven Capobianco guilty of 2nd-degree murder and 2nd-degree arson in connection with the death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend Charli Scott on Wednesday.
Charli Scott was killed almost three years ago when he was 27 years old and five months pregnant.
The jury has been in deliberations since Dec. 1. The jury almost gave up with they couldn't reach an agreement. But, they requested additional transcripts from an evidence specialist that helped them reach a consensus.
The jury is set to return to court on Thursday to hear arguments about whether the crime was especially heinous. Then, the jury will deliberate again to decide if Capobianco will receive an enhanced sentence of life without the possibility of parole
