Closing arguments in Capobianco murder trial set for Tuesday

WAILUKU, Hawaii -

     Jurors will deliberate soon in the trial for a Maui man accused of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend.
     At the Wailuku Courthouse, Monday presiding Judge Joseph Cardoza instructed the jury on specific ground rules in the Steven Capobianco trial. 
     If Capobianco's convicted he could serve life in prison for Charli Scott's death.  
     He's pleaded not guilty to the second degree murder charge.
     And opted not to take the stand in the trial. 
     Prosecutors called 71 witnesses to the stand. 
     Closing arguments are set for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, jury deliberations could begin as early as Thursday Dec 1.

    More than 150 volunteers on Saturday joined The Trust for Public Land at Ka‘ala Farm in Waianae on Oahu’s Leeward Shore to take part in a communal land restoration effort. The participants— including conservation donors and volunteers from 13 local companies — helped steward Kaala Farm by opening loi and planting kalo, while keiki enjoyed cultural activities such as pounding poi and making healthy ulu pancakes.

    The Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation (HGLCF) ended its 29th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (HRFF29) with its signature Red Carpet Event on August 18. The HRFF is one of the longest-running LGBT film festivals in the country. This year, the Festival showcased 15 films as well as special events and exclusive appearances over the span of two consecutive weekends.

    The Honolulu Gay & Lesbian Cultural Foundation (HGLCF) ended its 29th Annual Honolulu Rainbow Film Festival (HRFF29) with its signature Red Carpet Event on August 18. The HRFF is one of the longest-running LGBT film festivals in the country. This year, the Festival showcased 15 films as well as special events and exclusive appearances over the span of two consecutive weekends.
