Berger breaks school record in UH women's soccer win

Posted: Updated:

Rainbow Wahine goalkeeper Monk Berger broke the program record for career shutouts with 13 in the UH Women's Soccer team's 2-0 win at Denver on Sunday.

Berger’s shutout was the fourth in five games for the senior. She breaks Kori Lu’s (2005-08) previous school record of 12 career solo shutouts.

The game was tied early in the second half when senior Addie Steiner chased down a long ball and eventually earned a corner kick for Hawaii. Paige Okazaki beat DU goalkeeper Brittany Wilson to put Hawaii ahead 1-0 in the 55th minute.

Steiner joined in on the scoring in the 59th minute. Dani Crawford got her first career assist in the score.

The Rainbow Wahine wrap up their three-game road trip on Sept. 13 at Air Force in their final non-conference contest of the season.

Big West Conference play begins for Hawaii on Sept. 30 at Cal Poly.
