Thousands expected at Memorial Day lantern floating ceremony
Thousands are expected to gather at Magic Island Monday evening for the Memorial Day lantern floating ceremony. No parking allowed at Ala Moana Beach Park Monday. HONOLULU - Thousands are expected to gather at Magic Island Monday evening for the Memorial Day lantern floating ceremony.
No parking allowed at Ala Moana Beach Park Monday. Free event parking will be available at the Hawai'i Convention Center from 7 AM to midnight.
A complimentary shuttle will transport passengers.
The Lantern Ceremony will start at 6:30 PM.
The event is expected to bring in more than 40,000 people.
Participants are expected to release nearly 6,000 lanterns into waters off Magic Island.
The lanterns will be available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
The request tent will open from 10 AM to 4 PM Monday.
