HONOLULU - Paul Drewes is the evening meteorologist for KITV 4 News.
Paul grew up in Florida surrounded by the sunshine and surf.
He earned his degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting from the University of Central Florida.
After starting off in radio, he moved to Oregon and worked as a TV news and sports reporter.
A move to Hilo in the early 1990s brought him back to radio, and he spent time on the Big Island covering news and sports.
For more than 20 years, Paul has been a broadcaster in Hawaii, working at various television stations as a news reporter, anchor and meteorologist.
As a surfer and someone who loves the outdoors, covering the weather seemed like a natural fit. He completed the Mississippi State University Certified Broadcast Meteorology Program in 2001 and earned his television seal of approval from the American Meteorological Society.
Paul, an award winning journalist, joined the KITV4 team in November of 2009. He became part of the inaugural weekend morning news team in the fall of 2010.
When he is not working Paul spends time with his wife Gina and sons Noa and Kai, and also tries to get out into the surf as much as he can.
