Clayton Wakida joined KITV4 News in August 1999 as an intern. He came on as a part-time associate producer in January 2000.
He has been a producer and associate producer for every single KITV4 News newscast, including being a longtime producer for the weekday morning newscast as well as the weekend morning newscasts.
Clayton decided to go for the job of Digital Media Manager with his experience in computers, mobile device, website building and social media. He became Digital Media Manager in October 2011.
Clayton has taken on the big news stories on the website and on KITV's mobile products. He helped the public be informed during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in November 2011; helped Hawaii prepare for a tsunami warning in October 2012; and, he manned the computer for hours while tracking Hurricane Flossie in July 2013 while taking care of the debut of the KITV Hurricane Tracker app, which went to the #8 spot for weather apps in the iTunes App Store. He also stayed up overnight tracking Hurricane and Tropical Storm Iselle as it hit the Big Island in August 2014.
Clayton is looking for more ways to take KITV's digital products to the next level as we head into our digital future.
