News Release - KITV 4 Expands To 1-Hour 10 p.m. Newscast

Honolulu November 16, 2009: Starting tonight, the weeknight edition KITV 4 Island Television News at 10 P.M. will expand to one full hour. Followed by, “ABC News Nightline” at 11 P.M., KITV 4 will become Hawaii's first and only local station to provide 90-minutes of late night news.

“Given recent changes in the market, we believe there’s a positive message in expanding our local coverage,” said Mike Rosenberg, KITV President and General Manager. “Also, the late night programming landscape has created some unique opportunities to reach new viewers.”

“A one-hour late newscast will provide an incredible coverage advantage,” said Genie Garner, KITV News Director. “Whether it’s the economy, healthcare debate or upcoming political season, there’s never been a more important time for in-depth local coverage.”

The 90-minute combination of KITV 4's one-hour local newscast at 10 P.M. and the award-winning "ABC News Nightline" at 11 P.M. will provide Hawaii viewers with a unique, compelling programming choice. Seinfeld, which had been airing at 10:35 P.M., will continue to be seen weeknights at 6:30 P.M. on KITV 4.
