Former Punahou standout and current Notre Dame linebacker Manti Teo will play Saturday against Michigan State after the deaths of two people close to him recently, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Irish football head coach Brian Kelly confirmed that Teo's grandmother died Tuesday night and the next morning a close female friend lost her battle with leukemia.

The Chicago Tribune report says there is a chance that Teo will return to Hawaii at some point.
