Te'o up for the Heisman Trophy
Laie native leads Fighting Irish to 11-0 record
Heisman Trophy balloting began Monday and one of the frontrunners for the honor is Laie native and Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o.
Te'o and the unbeaten Fighting Irish (11-0) are at the top of the major college football polls and number in the BCS standings.
This comes after a weekend where Notre Dame dominated Wake Forest 38-0 and Oregon lost to Stanford and Kansas State lost to Baylor.
The Fighting Irish finishes its regular season Saturday at the University of Southern California.
The Heisman Trophy announcement is scheduled for Dec. 8 in New York.
The Heisman Memorial Trophy annually recognizes the outstanding college football player whose performance best exhibits the pursuit of excellence with integrity.
