HIC Pro kicks off round 2 and 3
With two days of waiting period left and two days of competition to complete the 2012 HIC PRO Presented by VANS is a definite go for Friday and Saturday at Sunset Beach, according to event organizers.
A new swell building on Friday can't arrive soon enough as surfers will hit the water at 8 am for Heat 12 in the Round of 96.
The surf is forecast to build all day and peak on Saturday with waves up to 6-feet-tall.
The first two days of competition, which ran on Sunday and Monday, were blessed by powerful 8-to-10-foot surf, light winds and sunny Hawaiian skies -- providing an exciting start to the 2012 Hawaiian contest season and the $1M VANS Triple Crown of Surfing.
As the final qualifier for the Triple Crown, the HIC PRO has attracted an international field of professional surfers hoping to make the cut.
The $95,000 4-star rated Association of Surfing Professionals event is the final event of the ASP-Hawaii Regional Tour and provides valuable points towards surfers' final 2012 ASP World Rankings.
The HIC PRO is being broadcast live online. Click here for the webcast or download the VANS LIVE app on the iPhone and Android.
